BIO
Sonya Madrigal (she/her/ella) is beyond honored to be a part of the Teatro Vista familia and joining this incredible group of artists. Sonya is an actor, director, choreographer/dancer, and educator. You might have recently seen her as Magdalena in Teatro Vista’s world premiere of Bernarda!. Sonya is a proud first-generation Mexican-American from Chicago, where she received her BFA in Acting from UIC. Sonya trained in the art of Mexican Folk dancing, which is where she began her journey as a dancer and choreographer. Recent Choreography credits include: Art with an Accent (Teatro Vista), Zulema and American Mariachi (Goodman Theatre).

Favorite Past Chicago acting credits include: Art with an Accent and Hope Part II: A Mexican Trilogy (Teatro Vista), Villette (Lookingglass), Pequenos Territorios (Goodman Theatre), Day of Absence (Congo Square); Oedipus Rex and The Adventures of Augie March (Court Theater). Regional credits include: Henry V (Riverside Theater). Sonya is proudly represented by Stewart Talent.
