THIS IS TVP
MISSION
Teatro Vista is a non-profit theatre and production company dedicated to multidisciplinary artists of color whose artistic expression on stage and beyond is rooted in the transformative power of owning and telling our own stories.
Our artistic collective is what drives the power at Teatro Vista Productions.
TVP is a space meant to be in service of its artistic collective so that we may support and amplify the artists' goals and aspirations. Whether their goals are to be on stage with us, ideating and developing content with us, or to be amplified within other endeavors by us, we are here to serve our artists. Teatro Vista Productions “powers up” the artists we work with by providing them with an operations department that can serve as their “team of people.” To the best of our abilities and budget, we seek to provide services that level the playing field for independent artists of color.
POWER OF
THE PEOPLE
-
Teatro Vista Productions (TVP) is an award-winning, critically-acclaimed non-profit theatre and production company that operates as the only professional, Union affiliated, Latine led and founded organization in the Midwest. TVP continually employs and builds the resumes of over 100 artists per season, a majority Latine artists, providing them opportunities to further their careers in a supportive and collaborative environment.
-
A market study around the hiring practices of professional theaters in the Chicagoland area revealed that from roughly 170 hired Playwrights and Directors only 9 were Latine. These positions hold the power in the room and influence production and casting hires. If only 5% of those positions are held by Latine artists, are we truly serving our arts community? Chicago is home to a 30% Latine population.
ART IS EQUITY.
Our work elevates marginalized voices, bridges gaps in society and offers equal access to creative expression and cultural experiences.
-
We produce plays, films, podcasts & multimedia projects created and led by Latine artists and artists of color. We offer our artists resources and professional development tools. We are developing an after school program and an acting studio to offer classes in a pay-what-you-can model.

Inside Teatro Vista Productions
CORE IDEOLOGY
We empower the artist to own their own stories, to share their experience and to reflect back to the community we stand in. We do so by creating:
A PHILOSOPHY OF ABUNDANCE
We share knowledge and resources across communities and disciplines creating access and opportunities to excel.
A LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP
We provide professional development opportunities to our collective and collaborators that can open pathways towards leadership positions. This is how you create change-makers in the entertainment industry.
A CULTURE OF AUTHENTIC INCLUSION
We believe whatever the artist of color designs is inherently genius. We invite all artists of marginalized identities to help build the table with us. We cannot thrive alone, we do so in community. "Pa'lante, juntos."
STORIES THAT START WITH US
American life can give way to a multiplicity of experiences. Through our storytelling, we provide audiences with a nuanced cultural awareness and understanding about the Latino/e community and beyond.
